Abstract:

In recent years there have been efforts to expand the reach of dark matter searches to the MeV-GeV dark matter mass range. Such searches are limited by the energy threshold for detection, which for current dark matter detectors is in the ~0.5-100 KeV range. We study the possibility of using low nuclear-recoil energies (~10 eV) to create  point defects in crystals. In this talk I will describe the experimental efforts taken in order to find potentially suitable crystals for detection of low mass dark matter.
