Abstract:
Mark Azbel was anything but simple. Neither as a theoretical physicist, nor as a person. This I learned first hand while interacting with him over many years. I will try to convey to you the flavour of this intricacy, point out a few of Mark’s great achievements, and demonstrate how some of my own work of recent years follows directions shaped in our earlier work.
