Congratulations to Prof. Yoel Kashman who won the 2017 Honorable ICS Member Award

Prof. Yoel Kashman has contributed immensely to the chemical community by outstanding accomplishments in science, training generations of young scientists and serving as a scientific ambassador for the State of Israel.

 

Prof. Kashman is a faculty member of TAU School of Chemistry since the late 1960s; he is a well-loved lecturer and won the "Best Lecturer Award for the Year 2000". His list of publications includes almost 340 peer-reviewed papers and almost 30 patents.

 

Prof. Kashman’s main field of interest is Marine Natural Products.

 

His studies helped to shed light on the organisms of the Gulf of Eilat and the Red Sea, by isolating and elucidating the structures of hundreds of new metabolites. Throughout the years, his students have worked on chemical transformations, modifications and synthesis of such systems as Latrunculin and the 2-thiazolidinone ring, the synthesis of pyrido-acridines, including Eilatin and other heterocylic skeletons, the cembrane diterpenoids, etc.
