The School of Chemistry congratulates Dr. Muhammad Jbara who recently won the prestigious European Union ERC grant for young researchers.
The grant is intended to conduct groundbreaking research on transcription factor proteins and is expected to lead to the development of synthetic methods and innovative technologies for the preparation of oncogene transcription factors and their investigation.
The goal of the project is to develop groundbreaking techniques and tools to unravel the control mechanisms of transcription factors on cancer gene expression processes.
Understanding these processes is essential to enable the development of innovative molecules that can suppress oncogene expression in the cell as well as contribute to other areas of research in biotechnology and medicine.
Dr. Jbara's research focuses on developing synthetic methods for creating complex proteins, such as transcription factors, and investigating their control over the regulatory processes of gene expression.
Among other things, his research focuses on understanding the control of transcription factors, which are responsible for most of the central processes in the cell, and understanding their modes of action.
