The Israeli team returns from the European Girl's Mathematical Olympiad  with two silver medals

The Israeli team returns from the European Girl's Mathematical Olympiad that took place in Busteni, Rumania, with two silver medals. The team was composed of two participants, each of whom received one silver medal: Maya Naveh, a 10th grade student at Leo Beck high-school in Haifa, was ranked 21 from among 147 participants, and Shira Ben Dor, an 11th grade student at Leyada high-school in Jerusalem, was ranked 37.

 

This is the fifth year that the competition takes place and the first time for the Israeli team to participate in it. 39 teams participated in the Olympiad this year.

 

The team's training program is organized by the School of Mathematical Sciences and by the Dov Lautman Unit for Science Oriented Youth at Tel Aviv University. The team's trainer is Lev Radzivilivsky, a Ph.D. student at the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University. The two team members were accompanied by Dan Carmon, a Ph.D. student at the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tel Aviv University, and Prof. Maria Gorelik from the Weizmann Institute.
