Abstract:
In the past few decades, early-Universe cosmological phase transitions have been the focus of intense research as they open up a window into the early universe and its particle nature - bubble collisions in first order transitions produce a background of gravitational waves. The envelope approximation is a widely used method for calculation of the background's spectrum. In this talk we consider late, post-recombination, phase transitions, and extend the envelope approximation for the calculation of the CMB signal, which depends not only on the tensor modes, but on the entire metric perturbation.
