This short film provides a simplified explanation of the Higgs field which fills the Universe. The interaction of elementary particles, such as electrons and quarks with the Higgs field gives them their mass.
Without the Higgs field all these particles would have been massless and would move at the speed of light.
The interaction of the elementary particles with the Higgs field prevents them from moving at the speed of light and causes them to have inertia, i.e. mass. The stronger the interaction of a given elementary particle with the Higgs field, the bigger its mass.
