Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine) was among eight physicians and senior researchers interviewed by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, about the great challenges of the future of medicine.

"Very few fields in medicine are making a huge leap thanks to new technologies. Genetics is one of them" said Prof. Shomron. He talked about the revolution of sequencing the human genome and its applications. He explained that the research community is now trying to understand the meanings of the human genome sequence through bioinformatics, and described the current technological capabilities that enable diagnosis of hereditary diseases and identification of increased disease risk. Prof. Shomron concluded with his forecast for the future.
