January 2021: Elkon in KBT online seminar

On January 26 2021 the KBT Initiative hosted an online seminar, as part of the joint seminar series between the Center of Computational Biology at UC Berkeley and the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at TAU.

The seminar took place at 8pm Tel Aviv time (10am Berkeley time) so that participants from both institutes could attend. Prof. Nir Yosef, KBT Steering Committee member from Berkeley, hosted the webinar and introduced the speaker, Prof. Ran Elkon, Faculty of Medicine, TAU. In his exciting talk "Systematic exploration of gene regulation by 3’UTR alternative polyadenylation", Prof. Elkon presented a systematic analysis of the impact of alternative polyadenylation sites on development and cancer, as well as the impact of mutations on such sites on a variety of disease phenotypes. The talk was followed by Q&A.

In his talk, Prof. Elkon also briefly described his ongoing KBT funded research collaboration with Prof. Xavier Darzacq of UCB, and promised to present its results in a future seminar.
