March 2021: Collaboration between Edmond J. Safra Center & Sheba Medical Center: workshop and grants call
A joint kickoff workshop of the Edmond J. Safra Center and the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center took place online on Monday March 22 2021 online.
A joint kickoff workshop of the Edmond J. Safra Center and the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center took place online on Monday March 22 2021 online. The workshop, aiming to foster new collaborations between the two institutes, was led by Prof. Noam Shomron, Edmond J. Safra member (Medicine) and Dr. Talia Golan of Cancer Center at Sheba. Some 50 researchers from both institutions attended short talks and participated in small group discussions.
We heard exciting talks by Sheba Physicians and scientists Drs. Ortal Barel, Jair Bar, Ben Boursi and Prof. Raanan Berger, and by Edmond J. Safra PIs Profs. Malka Gorfine (Statistics), Noam Shomron (Medicine), Ron Shamir (Computer Science), Tamir Tuller (Engineering) and Dr. Asaf Madi (Medicine).

The talks were followed by round table discussions in small groups on specific cancer topics: Bar and Gorfine moderated a discussion on High-throughput approaches for cancer analysis, Berger and Madi on Advances in immuno-oncology Boursi and Shamir on Prognostic cancer biomarkers, and Golan, Tuller and Shomron , on The complexity of genetics in treating cancer.
To further promote collaborations, we announced a call for joint research grants: The deadline of submitting grant proposals is May 10 2021.
