Annual Fellowship Ceremony 2011-2012
A ceremony awarding fellowships and certificates to all new and continuing E.J. Safra fellows took place on December 14, 2011.
TAU President, Professor Joseph Klafter, as well as the Dean of Exact Sciences, Prof. Yaron Oz, the Dean of Life Sciences, Professor Moshe Mevarech and Dean of Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Professor Yoseph Mekori, attended the event. We were honored to host The Edmond J. Safra Foundation representative in Israel, Mr. Ariel Greenberg.
Prof. Ron Shamir, the head of the E.J. Safra Program, opened the ceremony. Prof. Klafter, Mr. Greenberg, and the Profs. Oz, Mevarech and Mekori, greeted the fellows, their families and their advisors who attended the meeting. Fellowships and awards from the president and by the Edmond J. Safra Program were given to excellent bioinformatics students in all degrees, undergraduates, graduates and postdocs.
Ofer Isakov, who is an E.J. Safra MD/PhD Fellow, gave an exciting talk titled "New horizons in identifying viruses and bacteria".
