Urban Planning Center

Most world urban population live today in daily violations of their basic citizen and human rights especially in planning and development (poor living conditions, health problems, lack of infrastructure and insufficient services).

In light of this, the main goal of this center is to enhance innovative approaches in urban planning in order to create equitable, sustainable and livable cities and good quality of life. Our aim is to encourage studies in cities that go beyond existing conceptual and methodological approaches, by proposing new dimensions, new ways of thinking and new practices regarding three fundamental aspects of urban planning:

  • The ethical and educational: To deepen the understanding of the meanings and implications of democratic and ethical planning.

  • The technological: To deepen our understanding on how smart city models and technologies affect human life in cities and to develop new types of urban models based on information at the individual level originated from ICT

  • The social – cultural: To develop new approaches and frameworks of  the ‘vital city’ in health and good quality of life
