The Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics at TAU was inaugurated in June 2012. The new center builds on the success of the Edmond J. Safra Bioinformatics Program, which operated from 2006 through 2012. Although the Program was originally intended to operate for four years, The Edmond J. Safra Foundation recognized the Program’s special achievements and extended its term. Thanks to another generous donation from the Foundation, the new Center has been established in place of the Program.
The vision of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Bioinformatics is to preserve and enhance the role of TAU as an international leader in research and education in bioinformatics. To achieve this, the Center strives to bring together all bioinformatics-related research and teaching activities across campus into one multidisciplinary hub of excellence. It aims to secure TAU's future as a leading force in the development of novel drugs and biomedical technologies that will improve human health worldwide.
The Center of Excellence in Algorithms will conduct foundational research in algorithms design, and in many of the related sub-areas. One of the main contributions of the center will be absorbing new brilliant faculty members, who will join its institutions in Israel. In addition, the center will play an important role in training new generations of outstanding graduate students, many of whom will continue to impact the Israeli industry, and will benefit from the research experience they would have gained in the center. The organization of international meetings will be an integral part of the center's activities, and they will strengthen the leading role of the Israeli computer science research.

The Check Point Institute for Information Security aims to promoting research in all aspects of information and computing security. This includes both inter-disciplinary research and in-depth research in specific disciplines. The institute highlights collaboration between academia and industry, towards comprehensive and effective research.
